The 2026 Pediatric Chaplains Network Conference explores the intersection of spiritual care, resilience, and transformation in the lives of children and families facing health challenges. Rooted in the metaphor of the desert, a place traditionally associated with solitude, reflection, and growth, this theme invites participants to reflect on the ways in which voices—whether those of the children, families, or chaplains themselves—emerge in the most barren of places, echoing with hope, healing, and enchantment.
As chaplains, we are called to listen to and amplify these voices, helping to create sacred spaces where miracles—both seen and unseen—can unfold. Through this conference, we will explore how, even in the most desolate or challenging times, there are resonant echoes of joy, love, and divine presence. Together, we will examine how these voices offer us fresh perspectives, inspire spiritual resilience, and renew our collective sense of purpose and compassion in pediatric care.
This gathering aims to provide chaplains with tools, stories, and practices to help them embrace their roles as spiritual caregivers, finding beauty in the seemingly impossible and discovering the enchantment that can arise in the midst of hardship.

“Chaplain as Advocate”
What does advocacy look like in our present time? When does advocacy become activism? How does the pediatric chaplain navigate when personal, professional, and organizational values conflict? If you have asked yourself one of these questions over the past year, you are not alone. Join other pediatric chaplains in wrestling with how best to embody advocacy, a core tenet of chaplaincy, in this present moment. Our time together will include deep conversation, time for personal reflection, and opportunities to glean wisdom from past and present sources that inform our profession.
